R4 Q3Minis: Leck Koon vs. Edison LeeLeck Koon played Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider with Soulseeker and 2 Enraged Fire Spirit with 29 honour. Edison played 2 Enraged Fire Spirit with 1 Storm Rager totalling to 23 honour.
Edison won die roll. Edison moved Enraged Fire Spirit(EFS)(1) to the field first. Then Kael’thas entered and buffed Arcane Flux on self. Storm Rager Air Dropped neared to Kael’thas. And the rest joined the battlefield. Edison’s EFS(1) climbed the hill and burnted Kael’thas for 2 with a nice crit 2 on Leck Koon’s EFS(2). Leck Koon’s EFS(1) ran forward and playing Elemental Charge with a Flamestrike on Edison’s EFS(1) for 4 damage. Kael’thas finished the job by hitting Edison’s EFS(1) with a crit while Soulseeker took effect.
4 – 0 Leck KoonEdison’s EFS(2) wasn’t dishearted burnt Leck Koon’s EFS(1) for 2 with a Flamestrike and Fireblast which just extinguish in the air. Leck Koon’s EFS(2) boldly walked infront of Edison’s EFS(2) taking 1 damage from Fire Furnace and attacked Edison for 6 damage. Storm Rager casted a Wrath of Air Totem on the hill and attacked Kael’thas for 3 and crit teleported Kael’thas 2 spaces back. But Kael’thas attacked Edison’s EFS(2) and killed it and teleport his EFS(2) on hill adjacent to the VP point. At the end of tick 5 Leck Koon earned 2 VP.
10 – 0 Leck KoonLeck Koon continued his assaults attacked Storm Rager for 5 and 3 killing it. Storm Rager re-spawned and attacked Leck Koon’s EFS(1) to 3 health, with a crit teleporting both Leck Koon’s EFSs together for preparation of a Flamestrike on both them. Leck Koon is hyped up and Kael’thas bolted Storm Rager to death again. At the end of tick 10, Edison earned 2 VP.
Those minis melt in my hand, not my mouth
18 - 2 Leck KoonEdison’s EFS(1) attacked Kael’thas, Kael’thas is now at a very venerable situation right now. Just with 2 health, Kael’thas was being mauled by Storm Rager. Both players managed to move around the battleground, leaving spaces in between each other preventing Flamestrikes and crit of the EFSs. At the end of tick 15, both players earned 2 VPs.
20 – 12 Leck KoonStorm Rager climbed the hill attacked Leck Koon’s EFS(2) for 4 damage allowing his EFS(1) to hit a finishing move on Leck Koon’s EFS(2). Bringing Edison to 20 VPs. On a streak, Edison pushed his luck using EFS(2) to Fire Blast Leck Koon’s EFS(1) to 1 pathetic health. Frustrated, Edison moved infront of the EFS(1) taking 1 damage and striked it to death. Storm Rager turn followed and Air Drop the EFS(2) to safety. Storm Rager too moved back away from Kael’thas attacking range. At the end of tick 20, Leck Koon earned 2 VPs.
22 – 20 Leck KoonBoth players started to run around the field, not wanting to be caught the fire. But Leck Koon’s EFSs managed to cast Elemental Charge and Flamestrike across Edison’s EFS(2), resulting in EFS(2) melting into lava. At the end of tick 30, Edison earned 1 VP.
28 – 21 Leck KoonLeck Koon moved towards the Storm Rager trying get into range, but Storm Rager Air Dropped itself further back. Leaving EFS(1) with 3 health points alone in another corner. On tick 32, Kael’thas finally caught hold of Edison’s EFS(1) casted a mighty Fireball earning the VP that Leck Koon needed to win the match. Leck Koon had played in all 3 qualifiers, and he finally grinded through Day 2. Congratulations to Leck Koon for his never say die attitude!

Leck Koon can finally afford himsel a smile after making it through
on the last game of the last qualifier!

WoW: Minis Q2 Sealed Round 3Round 3 starts with Colin Tang playing Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider, Marlowe Chirstophers and Vi’gor Darkbreeze making the team honour 22 VP. Jade Chong played 2 Felguard Legionnaires and Ironfur Bear with a total honour of 17 VP. Both players are on 2 wins each, a win for either player will qualify them to Day 2.

Colin Tang proudly showing off Prince Kael
Colin rolled and won the dice. Vi’gor played out first, then Felguard(1) came out to the arena passed back to Marlowe and summoned Piztog increasing Colin’s party by 1 health each. Felguard(2) entered, Kael’thas buffed Arcane Fluxed on Marlowe. Lastly, Ironfur Bear stood between the Felguards ready to protect any ranged damage on the beastly Felguards.
Vi’gor moved onto the VP point and tried to attack Felguard(1) but due to a bad roll; no damage was dealt. Vi’gor continued to put on a brave front and went into Bear Form. Vi’gor immediately became a monster with 4 Armour, 2 Resist and 11 Health with Taunt! Jade moved his characters to surround the Kael’thas. Marlowe attacked Ironfur Bear for 5. Without wasting anytime Ironfur Bear moved back from the 2 Felguards and started to channel Silk Bandage on itself; healed for 1 and additional from the crit.
Kael’thas declared the second offense on Felguard(1), but only 1 damage was dealt. The attack from Kael’thas had awakened the beast within the Felguards, and both Felguards assaulted Kael’thas to a mere 2 health. While the lonely Ironfur Bear healed 1 from itself, and got back into the action again. At the end of tick 5, Colin and Jade earned 3 and 1 VP respectively.
3 -1 ColinKael’thas has only 2 health; Colin knows that his epic character is in danger, but failed to pull out a plan to protect the prince. In the end, Kael’thas tried to take down Ironfur Bear, Jade crossed his finger and hoped for the Bear to survive for another attack. Lucky for Jade, the Bear survived the mauling. Jade took the chance to claw Kael’thas down.

Jade Chong
3 – 9 JadeBoth Felguards used Curse of Culuthas on the Bear to heal 2 from themselves; abandoning Ironfur Bear to die to the curse. At the end of tick 10, Colin earned 6 VPs and Jade earned 2 VPs.
9 – 11 Jade
Felguard(1) cleaved Marlowe for 5, cornering Colin into a very bad situation. Vi’gor and Marlowe turned around and attacked Felguard(2) with Marlowe burning Felguard(2) into ashes. Ironfur re-spawned and it smelled blood. Ironfur Bear played Bear Necessities and pounced 2 damage on Marlowe. But little that Jade knows, he had fallen into a trap, Kael’thas planted the Bomb, Kael’thas’s Flamestrike to be exact next to the Bear. The bomb exploded and a Fireball from Kael’thas did the job, killing Ironfur Bear. Colin party moved in the VP point and earned just enough to be qualified for Day 2.

Li Wei and Nat are one of the few who just need one more win to qualify for tomorrow's SEACC. Li Wei is playing a Velen Wall consisting of Prophet Velen, Savin Lightguard and Graccus, total of 25 VP. Nat plays a party of 3 Blindlight Murloc with 12 VP. A smile and a handshake start the ever important match to win the right to qualify for tomorrow's tournament.
Li Wei won the dice roll and started with Velen moving next to the hill. And the rest follows and took their first steps into the arena. With tick 1 ending, Velen Wall didn’t reveal any equipment retaining the team honour at 25 VP.

Li wei looking pleased with himself
Velen casted a Wrath of Air Totem and climbed the hill to attack Blue Murloc, ticking Savin up by 1 tick, allowing Velen to make another attack on tick 4, with the double rerolls of the totem and the hill advantage; Velen managed to reroll into a 6 damage die roll, killing the poor Murloc.
Red Murloc follows the flow, climbing the hill and hitting with a Flamestrike on Savin and Velen. Graccus took 2 damage for Savin and a total of 5 damage on him, luckily Savin only took 2 damage. With the field still flaming, Green Murloc jumped in with another Flamestrike on Velen and Graccus, Velen took 1 while Graccus absorbed 2 from him and another 3 damage from the Flamestrike on him. Resulting in Graccus running back to the spawn point. Velen vowed revenge and by utilising his Call of Fire, he dealt Green and Red Murloc 1 damage each.
4 -4 All
Savin moved forward and attacked Red Murloc, leaving it with 1 health. “Lucky!” exclaimed Nat. Blue Murloc re-spawns blinking on a hill and casted Flamestrike on Velen and Savin, both of them took 2 and 3 damage respectively.

Nat....King Cole?
Back to Velen’s turn, he ticked Savin up by 1 and attacked; Velen rolled another 6 successes plus a crit on the Green Murloc, the crit dealt 1 to Red Murloc, killing both the poor Murlocs. At the end of tick 5, Li Wei earns additional 2 VPs to 14 VPs in total.
14 -4 Li WeiWith Savin’s Blessing of Wisdom, Velen is making cheap and powerful 2 ticks attack. Again, Velen attacks the solo Blue Murloc for 3. Graccus re-spawns and quickly heal Savin for 4 and crits, readying the Flash of Light.
At tick 7, Blue Murloc used its Destructive Gurgle on Velen but only managed to deal 1 to Velen. Li Wei heaved a sigh of relief, “Phew, it isn’t so destructive after all.” The other two Murlocs re-spawn and used their main attack on Velen but all failed with Velen standing unscratched.
While the Murlocs were all retired into tick 11, Li Wei made used of the advantage to heal his whole party to 0 damage; at this point, it looked like a one sided match for Li Wei. At the end of tick 10, Li Wei earns another 3 VPs.
17 – 4 Li Wei
Green and Red Murloc both moved forward and casted Flamestrike on Graccus and Savin, dealing 6 and 5 respectively. Savin quickly heals Graccus for 3 with Flash of Light. But it wasn’t enough as Blue Murloc re-spawns bombing another Flamestrike on the whole Velen Wall, resulting in Graccus dieing, Velen took 1 and Savin 3.
The Call of Fire burnt the 3 Murlocs again, Velen quickly bolted Blue Murloc with 5 successes including a Crit, and Blue Murloc could not withstand the mighty Lightning Bolt and fell into the dawn. With the help of Blessing of Wisdom, it’s still Velen’s turn again. Nat can only watch his Red Murloc fried by the Lightning Bolt again. Li Wei earns his last 4 VPs and move into Day 2.

Welcome to the first round of WoW:Minis. Players hail from different countries to Singapore to join the arena with just one motive, to win the grand prize and especially the trophy! The doors to the Worlds Championship is ajar, who will be the person to open that door? Well, let's find out together!
Both players Leck Koon and Edgar Leroy found their allocated seats for their respective tables, removing their chosen parties from the playbox, the players finally revealed what they hope is their golden ticket to Day 2 of the SEACC.
We have Edgar playing 3 Mortimers at a total cost of 18 VP and Leck Koon playing 3 Blindlight Murloc at a measly cost of 12 VP. Leck Koon won the dice roll and decided that Edgar will have the honour of going first. Leck Koon's priority is to gain 4 rounds of VP points, can Edgar stop him? Let's find out.
Edgar started the ball rolling with Blue Mortimer and summoned Jhuroon. Leck Koon moved his Blue Blindlight Murloc ahead. Green Mortimer enters the arena, moving to the lower adjacent right hill and casted the Demonic Circle.

Edgar gives the thumbs up (But you haven't won yet!)
Both players continued to move their characters into the map and it's back to Edgar. Edgar moves Green Mortimer and attacked Green Blindlight Murloc for 1 damage and teleported back to the Demonic Circle and pushed to the side of Blue Mortimer. Green Blindlight Murloc moves adjacent of the VP point. Red Mortimer summoned a Jhuroon out, teleporting back to the Demonic Circle too. Leck Koon moved both Red and Blue Blindlight Murloc to the adjacent of the VP too, with Blue Blindlight Murloc on the hill. With that move ending tick 2.
Blue Jhuroon moves next to Blue and Red BlindLight Murloc, an attack on Blue Murloc dealing 3 damage and a crit opened another attack on Red Murloc for 1 damage. Leck Koon tries to bring down RED Jhuroon but ends up only dealing 1 damage to it. Blue Mortimer attacked Red Blindlight and dealing a 5 damage deathblow to it.
0 - 4 Edgar
Leck Koon took a while to ponder what to do with 1 character down. Blue Blindlight Murloc moves up the hill and attacked Blue Mortimer and rolled a shocking 6 misses but with the help of the reroll on hill and managed to gain a success, but all fails under Mortimer’s 3 resist. Red Mortimer moved up the hill adjacent to the VP Point and casted a Corruption of Green. Red Blindlight Murloc re-spawned and moves ahead. Using Green Mortimer’s attack to target Blue Blindlight Murloc, Leck Koon paused to think but accepted the attack in the end, dealing 3 damage to Blue with a solitary hp left. At the end of tick 5, Edgar earns 1 VP while Leck Koon earns 2 VP, but Green Blindlight Murloc dies to Corruption.
2 - 9 Edgar
Blue Mortimer attacked Blue Blindlight Murloc with 1 hp, only a last gasped Ice Block prevented the death of Blue Blindlight Murloc. Green Mortimer came along casting a Curse of Agony on Blue. Blue Blindlight Murloc did another bad attack with 0 damage dealt but a crit exhausted an Action Bar Card on Green. Green Mortimer opened a new Demonic Circle away from the VP Point. The Characters moved and surrounded the Murlocs. Green Murloc re-spawns and moves only 1 space due to 2 Jhuroons blocking him. End of tick 10, Leck Koon earns 2 VP and 3 VP for Edgar. Blue Blindlight Murloc dies to the Curse of Agony earning another 4 VP.

Looking happy......for now
4 -16 Edgar
Green Mortimer casted a Corruption on Green Murloc and teleports back to safety only waiting to come back for the VP at the end of tick 5. A cast of Curse of Agony from Green Mortimer on Green Blindlight Murloc, but countered by Red’s Counterspell. Green Mortimer teleports and move away too. Red Mortimer casted Corruption on the Red Murloc , Mortimer teleports away to safety. Leck Koon realising that his team's death to Corruption and Curse of Agony is imminent, stood up and gamely shooked Edgar's hand. Game set and match!
Edgar made it to the second round with his first win of the day.

Here we go again!!
The annual South East Asia Continental Championships (SEACC) is back! The competitive calendar feels empty ever since the highly competitive Darkmoon Faire. Although the SEACC doesn't feel as prestigious as the DMF, it is nonetheless an important event in the season.
As usual, like any other event, we are accustomed to the sight of players arriving 2 to 3 hours early discussing tactics and trying to fish out bits of useful information from fellow players. It is however, wise to take all information with a pinch of salt, the mind games has begun!
It is 9am Singapore time now and the big players have arrived. Jonathan Koe and Jackson Low look eager to get things started. Keng Yin and Barry look relaxed and calm, the calm before ths storm? The Thai players though are looking rather subdued, pre match jitters? But oh well, looks can be deceiving so we are not buying into that too much ourselves.
The regional players have also made the trip down. It once again begs the million dollar question, will Singapore give birth to a local champion once again or will the region's best players step up a notch and take home the coveted championships?

The DMF might be a more prestigious event, no question about that, but to be named the region's best means a whole lot as well. International events don't come very often but it's the bread and butter regional champs that give players a psychological advantage over their fiercest rivals.
With Worlds less than a couple of months away, this is also a good opportunity for players to get some competitive action under their belt. For those making the trip to Worlds, this tournament should stand them in good stead for the daunting trip to Austin!
Will Singapore's winning streak continue and will home ground advantage prove too much and prolong the hoodoo of never having a foreign champ? Stay tuned as we bring you tournament news and match reports.

If you thought that day 1 of the Darkmoon Faire was exciting, day 2 brought marked the start of the TCG Darkmoon Faire Championships. A total of 78 participants signed up to compete to be knighted as the best player in the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game Darkmoon Faire Championships.
The TCG Darkmoon Faire Championships begins in earnest
Famous players such as Brad Watson, Nethetstorm Realm Championships winner Kuang Kai kicked the day off in typical tense mood. Tension and apprehension has been a trademark of this Darkmoon Faire as many of the players have not competed in a tournament of this magnitude. A place in the history books is for the player who wants and deserves it the most. The Singaporean players gave a good account of themselves despite the presense of top players from all over the world.
Although the winner of the TCG Darkmoon Faire Championships will only be known tomorrow, we can happily announce to you the Top 8 players who have qualified. Brad Watson leads the list of players by giving a flawless 7-0 winning performance. Soh Jun Yuan, Edward Widjaja, Henry Vitug, Jackson Low, Tang Han Wen, Bronson Tan and Ryan Luo completes the Top 8 players.

The Player of he Year leads the charge into the Top 8
The Miniatures qualifiers threw up 17 players in the pot who will be competing in the Miniatures Darkmoon Faire Championships. Good luck to all 17 of them, they will be needing it I'm sure!

Lady Sylvanas Windrunner!
Other things happening at the Faire includes the staple of Gaming Conventions nowadays, Cosplaying. Arthas, The Lich King and Lady Sylvanas represented the World of Warcraft contingent at the Cosplaying contest.

Cloud from Final Fantasy showing his fancy moves

Arthas himself
Rapturous applause greeted the WoW Cosplayers as soon as they made an appearance on stage. The LIch King costume also won Cosplayer Mr Jun Mao third place in the Cosplay contest so you can imagine how happy all World of Warcraft fans present at the Convention must be.

Some of the Cosplayers look really impressive
Other events going on include the World of Warcraft 3v3 Arena Round of 12 match ups. As of the time of writing, the players are still slugging it out to qualify for the finals tomorrow.Teams were made to clear Utgarde Pinnacle as fast as possible in the Dungeon Speed Runs. There were some really impressive timings by the players who didn't know which instance they had to clear prior to the competition so kudos to them for making such quick work of it.

King Yimiron dies....... again
Well alot has been said about the players, but let's not forget our judges as well. As the saying goes, you are as strong as your weakest link, without a competent and impartial judge team, tihs event will not be as successful as it is. The judges have worked very hard this 2 days to make sure everything is smooth sailing and with minimal glitches.
As usual, stay tuned for more coverage and match reports!

Judges' debrief at the end of the day

Judges looking visibly tired but pleased with themselves
25 May 2009

I hope everyone went home happy like him!
I hope that you guys enjoyed the 1st Darkmoon Faire in Singapore. Follow the links to the official
Upper Deck website and
Popcorn Gaming websites for all the event coverage!!
23 May 2009
The 2nd half of day 1 of the Darkmoon Faire Singapore threw the spotlight on the MMO aspect of World of Warcraft. The Team Treasure Hunt and the Gurubashi Arena saw participants ranging form the well prepared to those venturing into the unknown.
Some of the contestants didn't even have much World of Warcraft experience prior to the Team Treasure Hunt and 1 team even had 1 of his team mates leave half way through the competition to attend to an urgent matter. Well, what matters most is they all had loads of fun.

Pretty Treasuressssss! (I mean the screen!)

Onward to the Gurubashi Arena in STV!
Another side event that had lots of traffic is the artist booth. You may have Jaina Proudmoore or Thrall or some epical WoW Minis character, but a dash of paint makes it stand out from the crowd. Artist Rias even had requests to overhaul the colour of some of the characters! Ever seen Tyrande Whisperwind on a black tiger mount? Well now we have!

Rias hard at work

Hand painted minis with customized casing

Applying the finishing touches
After an intense day of competition, the champion for the Spectral Safari is born!. Congratulations to you, Mr Aizuddin!

And gets the girl too! Just Kidding!
Who will take the coveted Arena crown? Stay tuned for more coverage on day 2 of the Darkmoon Faire as the Arena 3v3 Tournament is down to just 12 teams!
22 May 2009
The inaugural Singapore Darkmoon Faire kicked off with a bang this morning with Guest of Honour Mr Teo Ser Luck (a Member of Parliament) taking time off his busy schedule to grace the event. Having a Member of Parliament start the proceedings of a Gaming Convention speaks volumes about the importance of gaming. Players from many nations tricked in to the Suntec City Convention Centre way before the gates were open to the public.
Players' excitement filled the air as a tinge of nervousness was evident even in the most seasoned of players. Sure, these players' have taken part in many a tournament, but this is something different, really different. History was about to be made and everyone wanted to be a part of it.

Getting an early bargain
After all, this is the first time that any country in Asia has the chance to compete in the much vaunted World of Warcraft 3v3 Arena tournament. After much hype in Singapore's major newspapers about the event, the Darkmoon Faire has well and truely landed in the sunny shores of Singapore.
How apt that the first tournament to kick the Darkmoon Faire off should be the Spectral Tiger event. The valuable Spectral Tiger loot card is the stuff of dreams for many a player and at least for this maiden event, 1 player will go home happy. However valuable the Spectrsl Tiger Card is, it is only the tip of the iceberg with many more attractive prizes up for grabs throughout the 3 day event.
Other things happening at the Darkmoon Faire include artist paintings of the World of Warcraft Miniatures. Popcorn Gaming has specially invited a well known artist, Riaz who has designed and fabricated costumes such as Predator, Ironman and Aliens to impart the art of painting to the masses.

Hmm...
A booth selling all things World of Warcraft such as comics, miniatures, acrylic case displays for the minis, toys, trading cards proved to be a hit with the masses who want to bring home a souverneir from the Darkmoon Faire. Popular acrylic display manufacturer Chezrich has also specially made many custom display cases for the WoW Minis and Figurines.
Moviemania, arguably the most well known prop and costume maker in Singapore is also part of the Darkmoon Faire. They are promoting how to make and design props for movies and cosplaying and holding workshops to better hone Cosplay enthusiasts.

The MMO section of the Darkmoon Faire also started with teams competing in the Team Treasure Hunt. Basically, players are given a list of items to find in Azeroth and the first team to find all the 'treasures' will emerge victorious.
The Team Treasure Hunt is on the way too!
Well, it has been a hectic and fun-filled first day and we aren't even halfway through the day yet! Stay tuned for more updates as we bring you match reports and more!
