History
Storm RushWhile the end result could be most easily be described as a fusion of Super Hexagon and Impossible Road, Storm Rush started life as a experiment in ray traced reflection effects in the Unity game engine. The effect turned out to be impractical on mobile devices and had to be abandoned but the final look of Storm Rush had already emerged. Storm Rush contains no complex geometry. Road Sections, Towers and the tower obstacles are arrangements of a single, simple tile object and are generated algorithmically. We think the final result is quite striking and unique. However, the look was driven more by practicality that intent. As a small studio that only employs a single programmer procedural generation allowed us to create a complex world from the simplest of building blocks and in a short time.
Popcorn EntertainmentPopcorn Entertainment was formed by Pete Akehurst and Vincent Jenkins after the closing of Codemasters' Guildford studio at the end of 2011. Pete spent over 10 years working on various Codemasters console projects before the studio shut it's doors but has spent the time since working exclusively in the mobile sector. Vincent is an veteran of both games and film. He has most recently worked as a concept artist on Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings. The company is entirely self funded. Until recently the Popcorn had been run on a part time basis and published a number of small quiz games. Income from the quiz games allowed Pete to start working full time for Popcorn at the beginning of 2014.
