Most nationalities can enter Singapore without a visa. Refer to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority for current guidelines, including a list of the 30+ nationalities that are required to obtain a visa in advance. Entry permit duration (in most cases either 14 or 30 days, with 90 days for US Citizens) depends on nationality and entry point.

By Air:

The Changi International Airport in Singapore is one of the most modernized airports in the world. As Singapore is one of the most important gateways to Southeast Asia, almost all major international airlines fly there. In addition to local and regional airlines such as Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, Tiger Airways, and Jetstar Asia, almost all major international airlines operate direct or connecting flights to Singapore. There are regular flights from Singapore to several destinations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia and North America.

By Train:

If you’re entering Singapore via Malaysia or Thailand, you may consider taking a train. There are two train services available:

The luxurious Eastern & Oriental Express allows you to travel in style and comfort, while experiencing the mystical wonders of Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Bookings can be made via the website.

The KTM trains offer a comfortable and efficient ride into Singapore from Malaysia. For bookings, please email the request form available at their website. Alternately, you may wish to book online via their e-ticket services.

For timetables and schedules, please visit the individual websites.

Driving into Singapore:

Here are some requirements for foreign-registered cars entering Singapore:

(a) Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) and Toll Charges

Foreign motorists are required to pay tolls and a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) charge at the checkpoints when they drive into Singapore. Payments have to be made using an electronic smartcard called the Autopass Card.

Autopass Cards are sold at the primary clearance/immigration booths or VEP/Tolls office at Singapore checkpoints. Motorists are required to produce valid road tax discs and insurance certificates for their cars when purchasing the Autopass Card. VEP fees are charged at SGD 20 per day, Monday to Friday (from 0200 hrs to 1700 hrs).

There are no VEP charges on Saturdays, Sundays, all Singapore Public Holidays, and weekdays from 1700 hrs to 0200 hrs. Toll charges are calculated on a per trip basis. Car drivers must pay toll charges on arrival and departure from the Tuas Checkpoint (SGD 3.70 per trip) but only on departure at the Woodlands Checkpoint (SGD 1.20 per trip). On the other hand, motorcyclists are not charged at the Woodlands Checkpoint. However, they must pay SGD 0.60 when departing and/or arriving into Singapore via the Tuas Checkpoint.

Parking in Suntec City:

Offering one of the biggest covered carparks in the CBD, Suntec City's two basements are accessible from Temasek Boulevard, Temasek Avenue or Nicoll Highway. A fun and eye-catching colour graphic system has also been designed to help motorists find their way around the complex and identify the lot where they parked. Visitors attending a convention parks at the blue zone.

A shopper planning large purchases simply parks at the green zone if he is headed for the Galleria or the yellow zone if he is going to the Tropics. A couple heading for the cineplex can drive straight into the red zone while a family out for dinner at the Fountain Terrace can park at any zone and proceed directly to the Terrace.

To help these motorists remember where they parked, 24 animal graphics corresponding to the letters of the alphabet, ranging from Alligator to Zebra, complement the column coding, numerical bay letterings and aisle numbers of their car park lot. If they still cannot remember where their cars are parked, help is at hand in the form of roving courtesy patrol buggies.

MRT:

The nearest MRT Station is City Hall. You can then take a 10 minutes’ walk via the underground City Link Mall. Alternatively, you can hop on board Suntec City's Courtesy Shuttle Bus– pick-up point is outside the City Hall Station entrance at St Andrew’s Cathedral, opposite Capitol Building.

Buses:

Bus services to Suntec Singapore: 36, 97, 106, 111, 133, 501, 502, 518, 857, 700. Alight right in front of the Convention Centre.

Accommodation in Singapore is expensive by South-East Asian standards. Particularly in the higher price brackets, demand has been outstripping supply recently and during big events like the F1 race or some of the larger conventions it's not uncommon for pretty much everything to sell out. Lower-end hotels and hostels, though, remain affordable and available throughout the year.
